Each year, parishioners are invited to help strip palm fronds to be used for Palm Sunday Mass. This year we will be working on the gym stage Saturday, March 31st at 9:00am. There are no tools, special equipment, or training needed. Palms are being donated by Orv Borg and Family from Flowers of the Lakes, in memory of his father, Paul Borg.
Palm stripping takes approximately 1 1/2 hours providing we have enough volunteers. For those of you looking for community service hours (Confirmation candidates, Boy Scouts, etc.) this is a qualifying event, but we ask that a parent accompany you. We’d love to have you join us! Please call the Worship office to offer your help. [248-698- 3100 ext. 22]
The St. Pat’s Men’s Club is sponsoring a Euchre party on Saturday, March 3rd at 7:00 p.m. in the Adult Meeting Room. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Everyone over the age of 18 is invited to join the fun!
This pastoral planning process involves every parish in the Archdiocese of Detroit. In 2011, approximately 1,500 lay volunteers, nominated by their pastors as parish planning group representatives, evaluated parish situations in an open and collaborative process to propose what should be done to be better stewards of parish resources to fulfill the archdiocesan mission: Sharing Christ in and through the Church.
Archbishop Vigneron’s decisions on parish alignments were informed by recommendations from lay leaders, the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council, and consultations with others including pastors and the auxiliary bishops of the Archdiocese. In the months ahead, parishes will develop and implement the plans specified by the Archbishop. Progress will be monitored, measured, and reported to parishioners. Parish plans and implementation will increasingly emphasize planning group actions to address and fulfill the seven mission priorities of the Archdiocese.
The Together in Faith planning process remains subject to canon law regarding major alterations to parishes including boundary changes, mergers, and other considerations which will be addressed as implementation proceeds. The parish-by-parish outcomes detailed in this document are part of a larger set of decisions involving every parish in the Archdiocese of Detroit. If you’d like to see the complete details for every parish in the Archdiocese, including parish plans to address the seven mission priorities, go to www.aodonline.org/TogetherInFaith.

Join the SP Teens… in the fight against Texting and Driving!!
This Lent the SP Teens are working hard to promote: NO Texting while Driving. After watching an episode of Extreme Home Makeover, our youth has decided for Lent their mission will be “To Save a Life”. One issue that affects both teens and adults alike is that of texting and driving. More and more awareness is being promoted. In order to help the cause, the SP Teens will be selling “thumb bands” which are to be worn in order to remind people not to text while driving and to “Keep your thumbs on the wheel”! These special rings promote the saying STOP 4 Love; STOP is an acronym for “SP Teens Offer Prayer”.
Love of God, Love of self, Love of others, Love of parents, etc. The hope is that when you are wearing the thumb band instead of texting while driving, the ring will remind the wearer to STOP, to “Save a Life”!!!
These bands can be purchased for only $1.00 each. There are four different colors with the same message. This outreach project not only promotes a positive pro-active message but proceeds will be given to a family who lost their teenage daughter to an unfortunate fatal car accident. This family is now working hard to educate people on the hazards of texting while driving. Anyone interested in these wonderful bands can either contact a SP Teen Member or the Office of Faith Formation at 248-698-4388.
